Review

Kanetanaka is one of Tokyo’s most exclusive ryotei (traditional restaurants), but this sleek, chic offshoot is thoroughly modern and totally accessible. Instead of tatami mats and washi paper screens, it’s furnished with tables and chairs, and blinds of silvery metal. The multi-course kaiseki meals give Japan’s traditional haute cuisine an inventive contemporary slant. The restaurant is housed in the Cerulean Tower Hotel, which also contains a Noh theatre and a jazz club.
