In a back alley off the Hongo-sanchome intersection, is a black wooden building housing a soba noodle shop with a reputation for tasty soba. The owner, a soba fan, got into soba after once being served an outstanding basket of soba noodles. After studying soba making for four years he opened this restaurant. At Tanabe, nothing gets served to customers without the chef’s stamp of approval. The shop uses own homemade soba flour ground in a stone mill to produce its fresh soba noodles. With a modern Japanese interior and a low-key atmosphere, Tanabe a good place to spend some quiet time.
