The shopping complex that sits atop Asakusa's Tobu line station was restored to its early Showa-era glory in 2012, when it reopened under the name Ekimise (a nod to the nearby Nakamise shopping street). Venerable department store Matsuya still occupies the lower floors, while you'll find a range of fashion boutiques upstairs. Souvenir hunters might stumble upon something they like on the seventh floor, where a huddle of small shops sells typically East Tokyo-style products – and be sure to check out the rooftop terrace, offering good views of the nearby Tokyo Skytree.
