Once one of the most tongue-twisting bands in the Japanese jazz scene, Date Course Pentagon Royal Garden made things a lot simpler for the rest of us when they shortened their name to DCPRG a few years back. The 11-piece ensemble, led by saxophonist and arch contrarian Naruyoshi Kikuchi, are returning to the site of their infamous 2010 comeback gig, where they came close to getting washed off the stage by a torrential downpour. Hopefully the weather gods will be kinder when they play there on May 12 – and with ass-shaking support from Zainichi Funk and Simi Lab, it should be quite a show.
We've got a pair of tickets up for grabs, plus ten DCPRG T-shirts (XL size only). If you'd like to get your paws on them, simply retweet this page to @TimeOutTokyo or reply on the Time Out Tokyo Facebook page with the word 'DCPRG' and we'll enter your name into the draw. The deadline is 11.59pm on Tuesday, May 7, after which the winners' names and contact details will be passed on to EastWorksEntertainment inc, DCPRG's management company.
