Ooh, I say! The fashionistas, freaks and fun-seekers of Tokyo headed to Trump Room last Friday for a party that was intended to whet appetites for the upcoming summer music festivals – Fuji Rock in particular. But while the organisers had taken pains to add appropriate decorations to the venue – bunting, tents above the DJ booths, anoraks draped over busts and mannequins – they were overshadowed by the eye-popping accoutrements that constitute Trump Room's regular decor. Still, if the concept of the event was swiftly forgotten, the hedonistic vibe was on a par with what you might expect in the wee hours of the morning at Fuji Rock's Palace of Wonder, while the music was considerably better than what we've come to expect at the capital's hipster-baiting parties. Job well done, we think.
