Jah rained sunshine on Yoyogi Park for the opening day of this year's One Love Jamaica Festival, then dumped a few hundred gallons of water on the assembled faithful on Sunday afternoon. But then, people hadn't come to worship Jah so much as his great musical emissary, the late Nesta Robert Marley. This month marked the 30th anniversary of Bob's death, and few of the DJs and bands appearing over the weekend missed a chance to dredge up selections from his back catalogue. When the cover versions of 'Exodus' got too much, there were always other distractions: the clothing stalls, the CD shops, the Jamaican dance-offs, and the absurdly long line for the jerk chicken shop. Irie, indeed.
