Tonofon Festival 2013

Presumably Shugo Tokumaru was too busy working on brilliant LP In Focus? (which topped our Best Japanese albums of 2012 list) to make time for his Tonofon Festival last year, but the event is set to return to Tokorozawa Aviation Memorial Park this June. The indie wunderkind presides over a bill of likeminded musicians, including 'avant pops' duo Tenniscoats and Mitamura Kandadan, a 17-piece ensemble who shun conventional gig venues in favour of outdoor shows in the countryside. Tickets go on general sale on April 6, and be warned that the 2011 fest sold out well in advance.
