Tokyo Yokocho Week

Tue Jan 15 - Fri Mar 15, 2013 Yurakucho Sanchoku Inshokugai and surrounding area

Time Out says

In decades past, Tokyo's prime drinking spots were to be found in the yokocho (alleys) around major stations – and despite years of urban redevelopment, many of them are still there. The Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau is encouraging overseas visitors to explore one of the capital's most famous yokocho districts in this two-month promotion, which runs until March 15. The action centres around the retro-styled Yurakucho Sanchoku Inshokugai complex, where you can pick up a Yokocho Discount Passport that entitles you to discounted food-and-drink sets at participating restaurants. If that puts you in the mood to explore the surrounding area, you can use the same passport to waive the seating charge at 15 local bars, including esteemed cocktail spots like Star Bar and Hoshi. And how better to round off the night on the town than by making a drunken impulse buy at Don Quijote, using the ¥500 voucher included in the passport?
