Artist Masako Ando isn't in any rush. A former student of Nobuya Hitsuda – who also nurtured the talents of Yoshitomo Nara, among others – the Nagoya-based artist can spend as long creating a single oil painting or pencil drawing as it takes some of her contemporaries to churn out an entire exhibition's worth of material. Accordingly, she doesn't get out very often: this is only the fourth public outing for her work, following two group shows and a solo exhibition at the Tomio Koyama Gallery back in 2004. With just 17 pieces on display, The Garden of Belly Button isn't the most generously stuffed exhibition you'll see this summer, but aficionados are likely to savour it like a fine wine.
