Summer Sonic 2012

Fuji Rock's urban rival tends to skew in a poppier direction – the last group to play in 2011 was Girls' Generation, fer chrissakes – and this year's is shaping up to be no different. Punk veterans Green Day and R&B chanteuse Rihanna have been confirmed as headliners, with Jamiroquai, Sigur Rós, Ke$ha and American Idol graduate Adam Lambert also pencilled in. In keeping with the current vogue for band reunions, you can expect back-from-the-dead appearances from groups including New Order, The Cardigans and Cast, while the presence of flavour-du-jour acts including SBTRKT, Crystal Castles and Iceage should keep trendier listeners happy.
