Tokyo drum 'n' bass doyen DJ Aki celebrates his birthday at Womb this weekend, in the company of one of his biggest influences. As the co-owner of Virus Recordings – the label that he started with frequent collaborator Optical – Ed Rush has long been synonymous with the darker side of d'n'b. Recent dalliances with dubstep may have taken longtime fans by surprise, but they merely provided another outlet for this London-born producer's addiction to pulverisingly heavy bass. Prepare for a battering as Rush appears alongside DJs Aki, Velocity and Ymasa, with Yuuki MC and Key MC on microphone duties.
