Make your way up to the Chinzanso Hotel in September for a feast courtesy of northern Akita Prefecture and its many fine sake breweries. ¥6,000 will get you all-you-can-drink Akita nihonshu in both traditional and sparkling varieties, local beer, wine and cloudy doburoku sake, plus regional delicacies like hinai-jidori chicken dishes and kiritanpo hot pot goodness. And if all that still doesn't satisfy, get this: every visitor gets to take home a bottle of the finest Akita junmaishu (pure sake). Make sure to pick up your tickets well in advance, as there are only 800 available in total.
