Time Out says

Returning to Japan with a large-scale exhibit this summer, Chinese-born, New York-based contemporary artist Cai Guo-Qiang has earned plenty of international recognition since taking his talents to the Big Apple in 1995. Famed for applying unconventional materials and unique techniques while incorporating elements of traditional Chinese culture – from gunpowder to herbal medicine – in his work, Cai is well-attuned to the tastes of Japanese audiences after living in the country for nearly nine years. 'There and Back Again' features both signature pieces and brand-new work, some created exclusively for this exhibit, and highlights the artist's search for harmony and connections between Eastern and Western philosophy.
