Chamber Music of Peter Eötvös

Wed May 21, 2014 Tokyo Opera City

Time Out says

Hungarian composer and conductor Peter Eötvös is one of the best-known interpreters of 20th-century classical music, having held posts at prestigious institutions like the Wiener Philharmoniker, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra during his four-decade career. This night at the Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall will first see the man himself discuss and explain his music, after which five pieces (including Eötvös's first opera, the 1973 Harakiri) will be performed. Make sure to keep an eye out for Ryoko Aoki, the Noh performer who's one of the few women to have taken up this traditional form of Japanese musical theatre acting.
