Review

This shop sells dango (rice-dough dumplings), taiyaki (fish shaped griddle cakes filled with sweet bean paste) and soft-serve ice cream. The grilled dango are freshly made and come in a wide variety of flavours including shoyu (covered in soy sauce), miso, goma (sesame seed), isobe (wrapped in dried seaweed), kinako (sprinkled with soy bean flour), mitarashi (drizzled with soy sauce with sugar and starch), koshi an (spread with smooth red bean paste), yuzu shiro an (coated in yuzu citron-flavoured white bean paste). Starting from ¥90 a pop, they have the perfect chewy texture and are made from 100% rice flour. The taiyaki at Masayume are well-sized and filled with red bean paste, with the added surprise addition of mochi (rice dough) which gives them a satisfying and no-so-common heartiness.
