If you're looking for somewhere to head after a trip to the nearby Tokyo Skytree, this late-opening Italian café and bar in Kinshicho is worth a peep. Absente's signature dishes include a tenshi (angel) carbonara so piled with cheese that you can't even see the pasta, and a stomach-churning spin on the familiar peperoncino spaghetti – this time crowned with a liberal scattering of locusts. Devoted followers of the green fairy will be pleased to hear that the bar stocks plenty of the eponymous absinthe, though you should expect to pay upwards of ¥1,500 for a glass.
