Planted right in the middle of one of Tokyo's busiest office districts, Craft Beer Market caused a minor sensation when it opened in February 2011. Not without due cause: with all of its beers priced at a flat ¥780 per US pint, the 40-seater pub was undercutting the competition by a few hundred yen per drink, and it's been thronged with hopheads ever since. Being the cheapest craft beer bar in Tokyo is a tricky game to play, mind you – you won't find many imported microbrews on the menu at Craft Beer Market, though the 30-odd Japanese varieties on tap should provide adequate compensation. Expect to find names like Baird, Aqula, Iwate Kura and Kinshachi alongside little-known brews such as, ahem, Asahi Super Dry. Food is served in tapas-sized portions, and we were impressed by what we tried, especially the punchy tomato bruschetta. Be warned that it's a popular spot, and reservations are strongly recommended if you're planning on heading on a Friday evening. Smoking allowed on the outside terrace only.
