Park Hyatt Tokyo and NIGO® team up

To ring in its 15th anniversary, Park Hyatt Tokyo has teamed up with producer, DJ and founder of the Japanese clothing brand ‘A BATHING APE®’, NIGO®, to release a unique compilation album entitled ‘TOKYO SUITE Selected by NIGO®’. The special selection aims to capture the feeling of residing in the city through some of Japanese music’s best acts.

NIGO®, a regular guest at the Park Hyatt Hotel, produced the album with a ‘Tokyo’ theme after being inspired by time spent at the hotel and, using an all Japanese lineup of artists, compiled the album to consist only of tracks that represent Tokyo.

Starting with the eighties track ‘Tokyo Bronx’, produced by Ito Seiko and Tinnie Punx (Kan Takagi and Hiroshi Fujiwara), the album goes on to include a host of other well-known classics and hit tracks as well as a rare cover of Erik Satie’s original ‘Gymnopedie’ performed by Haruo Chikada.

The release party, held on October 15th at the New York Bar on the Park Hyatt Tokyo’s 52nd floor, staged a live performance of Tokyo Bronx by Ito Seiko and Kan Takagi (the party’s main DJ), and illustrious guests including artist Takashi Murakami and house artist Fantastic Plastic Machine. The fête also hosted a special live performance by the TERIYAKI BOYS – a collaboration consisting of DJ NIGO® and four famous MCs.

The album is dubbed ‘Tokyo Suite’ to tap into the idea that Tokyo is a city where life can be lived to its fullest. If you’re feeling extravagant, try enjoying Tokyo to its fullest by spending a night in one the hotel’s 220 square metre ‘Tokyo Suite’ rooms on the 50th floor.

‘TOKYO SUITE Selected by NIGO®’ was released Nov 11 and is available in the Park Hyatt Tokyo’s online shop and select record shops nationwide for ¥2,500 (¥2,381 excluding tax).

To celebrate its 15th year as a distinguished modern luxury hotel, Park Hyatt Tokyo has arranged a Tokyo-focused lineup of events. Most notable are the release of the new album ‘TOKYO SUITE Selected by NIGO®’ and the launch of a new spa treatment, the Tokyo Massage, which makes use of domestically produced seasonal plant oils. Each 90-minute treatment costs ¥28,000.
