Time Out says

Master of the unnatural, German sculptor and snapper Thomas Demand specialises in creating full-size replicas of real-life scenes using card and paper, which he photographs before destroying the results so that only the images remain. These surreal and occasionally disquieting pictures – which seem to speak to the dislocation of modern life – will be on display in Demand's first full-scale Japanese retrospective, which also features some of the artist's recent forays into film.
