We still get giddy shivers of pleasure when we remember the first time we heard The Field's 2007 debut, From Here We Go Sublime. One of the finest examples of the gauzy, trance-style techno propagated by German label Kompakt, its shimmering, luminescent riffs stuck with us longer than almost any other album released that year. After faltering on sophomore effort Yesterday and Today, producer Axel Willner was back on peak form with last year's Looping State of Mind, which replicated the euphoric rush of his debut while incorporating unexpected traces of post-punk and kosmische. The last few years have also seen him take the show on the road with a live band, which is what audiences will be getting at Unit. Kompakt label mate Hiroshi Watanabe aka Kaito is also DJing in the main room, while ambient maverick DJ Yogurt will be spinning all night in the downstairs Saloon.
