Niki de Saint Phalle Exhibition

Revolver in one hand, paintbrush in the other, Niki de Saint Phalle was a woman who believed that art is a means to an end. She tried it all, from huge Gaudi-style papier-mâché sculptures to video, and from sketching to shooting at paint-filled bags against a canvas. Working from the '50s through to the '90s, her unique artistic vision touched upon outsider art, new realism and feminism, always advancing socio-political causes while forging a colourful, almost pop-art like style that eventually came to appeal to a wide audience. This extensive retrospective highlights her journey via more than 100 pieces, providing a comprehensive look at this tireless rebel's artistic struggle.
