Time Out says

Ohio-born Robert Heindel (1938-2005) had no formal training, but managed to break onto the New York art scene with hard work and a particular eye for depicting the human form. Having specialised in painting dancers of all stripes, from ballet and musicals and contemporary dance, noh and kabuki, his solemn, detailed pieces have found a receptive audience in Japan – this show at Yokohama's Sogo Museum is the artist's second retrospective in the country in two years. Around 100 pieces are on display here, and anyone wearing ballet shoes to the exhibit is eligible for an entrance fee discount.
