Japanese Culinary Immersion -L'art de Rosanjin

Fri Mar 6 - Tue Mar 24, 2015 Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall (4F)
The 'giant bowl'

Time Out says

Held at Nihonbashi's Coredo Muromachi, this exhibit shines the spotlight on Kitaoji Rosanjin (1883-1959), artist, sculptor, calligrapher and one of the greatest gourmet critics and restaurateurs of his generation. The display guides visitors through Rosanjin's life while exploring the captivating world of Japanese food, the modern evaluation of which he greatly influenced, through interactive art. Follow quotes left behind by the man himself and view parts of a giant bowl brought to 'life' with cutting-edge media tech, a 'virtual counter' where you can study Japanese omotenashi (hospitality) through recreations of the service offered at Nihonbashi's tempura eateries, and some nifty sakura-themed projection mapping. To top it all off, luxury restaurants frequented by Rosanjin, including Kyubey (sushi, Ginza) and Fukudaya (kaiseki, Yotsuya), will be offering special tasting-style dishes at the show, while star chef Keisuke Matsushima will be showing off his experimental, high-tech gourmet creations. Finally, the bar lounge is where to grab a drink or two after the show.
