An interesting shop that focuses on Japan's outlying regions, specifically arts and crafts, though there are a few treats for foodies dotted about, too. Crafts lovers expecting a rustic, quaint little venue will be taken aback; the minimalist interior, with its sunken enclaves bathed in stylized lighting, oozes style - regional craft in a chic Tokyo setting.
There's plenty here to keep you browsing for an hour or so - the shop sells everything from Arita pottery through to distinctly savage looking meat cleavers - and, while it's certainly not cheap, there's enough on offer to please both souvenir hunters and Japanophiles alike. The shochu chocolates, in particular, pleased the Time Out office.
To make the most of your visit, head over at lunchtime, when smells from the Rin Café kitchen come wafting down from the second floor, defying you to leave on an empty stomach. Highly recommended.
