Review

Everyone knows that if you want good quality, butter-stuffed pastries and cakes, you won’t go far wrong in France. Japan’s first authentic French patisserie chain, Colombin was brought into the country from Paris in the early 1920s, though its brick-built home branch in Harajuku dates back to the late ’60s. In addition to confectionery (some of which makes for lovely take-home gifts), the café also offers a decent lunch menu, including an excellent original gratin and a fine croque monsieur. Settle into the relaxed dining area and enjoy the view of the Japanese zelkova trees that line the road outside, right next to the Meiji-Jingumae crossroads.
