Review

Graphic designer siblings Markus and Daniel Freitag founded their eponymous company in 1993, aiming to address the practical need for tough, weatherproof bags that could survive bike rides around the streets of Zurich. Freitag's one-of-kind totes and accessories are made from a variety of recycled materials – truck tarpaulin, car set belts, bicycle inner tubes, air bags – and they're capable of surviving some serious abuse. You'll find them on sale at many Japanese select shops, but this Ginza flagshop is the brand's only official shop in Asia. There are 1,200 bags on offer in the two-floor, concrete-heavy store, housed in simple, neatly labelled drawers: retail minimalism at its finest.
