Tsutaya Tokyo Roppongi is playing host to a month-long travel-themed Time Out Fair, which will take place until April 30. The interior of the store will feature a special installation dedicated to Time Out’s best-selling books, including travel guides, city guides and shortlist pocket guides, which have sold over a million copies worldwide.
The fair will also feature a very special edition of Time Out London magazine with a cover by the current king of the street art world, Banksy. The special ‘Banksy Edition’, as it’s been dubbed, was an instant sell-out in London, and Tsutaya’s managed to get a hold of a handful of copies courtesy of Time Out which are available while supplies last. Posters are also on offer, either as part of a set with a copy of the magazine, or solo.
Banksy is London’s most well-known graffiti and street artist, operating in a unique guerrilla style that has seen him leaving his thought-provoking and eye-catching visual missives all over the city. He has added his own flair to the likes of The Tate (London), The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York) and The British Museum (London), all without prior permission – and all wildly popular. His work resonates so much that even celebrities have become admirers, with actress Angelina Jolie collecting his work.
It’s already too late for those in London to get their hands on the Banksy Edition, but – thanks to Time Out – Tokyoites still have their chance to grab their copy of the magazine. Also on offer are popular travel-based titles from the Time Out collection, such as ‘The World’s Greatest Cities’, ‘Great Train Journeys of the World’ and ‘Adventure!’ – each guide is packed with insider knowledge that will inspire you to see your world.
During the fair, which is held in Tsutaya Tokyo Roppongi’s event space, there will also be talks with the theme of ‘new wave sightseeing’.
