With a market that generates over 70 trillion yen a year, one of the USA’s most noticeable emerging industries is the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) market. The LGBT community’s trends are fuelled by higher disposable income, and the demand for LGBT orientated tourism is growing. With Japan's vested interest in tourism, how can this important market be served?

Tsutaya Tokyo Roppongi is now host to the travel-themed Time Out Tokyo Fair, where patrons can peruse a collection of travel related books and guides. To extend the event’s reach, on Saturday April 24, travel journalist Naoko Terada, Japan’s unique gay orientated travel company Qocci Inc.’s Masaki Higashida, and international gay scene writer Yoshihiro Masamichi will come together for a talk event: Time Out Tokyo presents LGBT Tourism.

Despite the economic slump, LGBT tourism continues to grow and the talk will be covering this topic along with images and clips from Sydney, Australia’s unparalleled Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and New York City’s Gay Pride March.

This talk event presents a special opportunity to not only get acquainted with the overseas LGBT markets, but also to hear more about the LGBT market here in Japan from those at the forefront. The talk will be given in Japanese, but everyone is welcome.
