Summer Music Festivals Guide

Asian Kung-Fu Generation's mini-festival is a tough one to peg: though it's spread across two days, some of the bands end up playing twice, making it a hardy fan indeed who'd actually go for the whole thing. The stadium setting is low on festival vibes, high on rock action.

The lineup

Ash, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Boom Boom Satellites, The Hiatus, Gen Hoshino, Isobe Masafumi Band, Manic Street Preachers, Mowmow Lulu Gyaban, Negoto, Oorutaichi, The Rentals, Motoharu Sano and The Hobo King Band, Straightener, We Are Scientists, Weezer, The Young Punx! & Phonat

The verdict

Every bit as crammed with surprises as Asian Kung-Fu Generation's discography, which is to say not at all. Weezer might be the biggest draw this year, though bear in mind that they're also playing a couple of solo dates before Nano-Mugen.
