The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo delves into its collection for a show exploring the relationship between art and the city, divided into sections for ‘Skyline’, ‘Underground’, and the ‘Palimpsest’ of half-buried meanings in between. Some of the most evocative selections come from photographers, including Naoya Hatakeyama's descent into the tunnels under Tokyo, and Yutaka Takanachi's large-format pictures of Shinjuku's Golden-Gai bar district (above).
