Freaks NYE 2011-2012

When every other club around town is scrambling to lure punters to their NYE parties, it's hard not to admire the cojones of a promoter who's content to book a single DJ for their event. Then again, when the disc jockey is question is DJ Harvey – the scruffy LA-based Englishman beloved of Japanese audiences for his marathon sets and impeccable disco re-edits – it starts to seem like less of a gamble. Organised by the folks behind the excellent Freaks outdoor parties, this all-nighter at the warehouse-like Differ Ariake sees Harvey play for a full eight hours – and we can think of few other DJs we'd like to listen to for that long.
