Review

A beautiful, traditional Japanese garden that was laid out by a silk merchant in 1906. When religious relics were being torn down as religion fell from official favour in the Meiji era, the local merchant decided to save the treasures from the bulldozer, importing them from across Japan. The grounds now house a three-storey pagoda from Kyoto, and a feudal lord’s residence among many other priceless structures. The park is open in the evening during cherry-blossom season (April) and for Moon Viewing (September).
