Fujinokuni Yamanashi-kan

It isn't just distant prefectures that maintain so-called ‘antenna shops’ in Tokyo – even nearby neighbours such as Yamanashi can't resist the chance to conduct a spot of mercantile PR in the capital. This boutique dedicated to the self-proclaimed ‘Home of Fuji’ hawks a wide range of local wares, both edible (jams, juices and shingen-mochi sweets, apparently the prefecture's most popular souvenir) and not-so-edible (koshu-inden products made with lacquered deerskin). Given Yamanashi's burgeoning reputation as a winemaking region, you can also sample a wide array of offerings from local vineyards – some of which head to the shop to conduct tasting sessions at the weekend.
