Kabuki: the eclair

Fauchon makes a special eclair for the new Kabukiza Theatre

Kabuki: the eclair

As the new Kabukiza Theatre prepares to stage its first performances on April 2, French pâtisserie Fauchon has concocted a dramatic dessert to mark the occasion. The limited-edition Éclair Kabuki (¥525) sports the Kabukiza's signature orange, green and black stripes – the same design seen on the theatre's stage curtain – and comes filled with a distinctly Japanese-style blend of yuzu and matcha cream. Will Sakata Tojuro IV be scoffing one before he goes on stage on April 2? We doubt it, but the audience probably will.

The Éclair Kabuki is being sold at a pop-up shop in the B2 floor of the new Kabukiza Tower building, and will only be available until April 7 (open 10am-7pm; closed March 31, April 1).
