A disciple of the great Daido Moriyama, Seiji Kurata broke into the international spotlight with his 'Flash Up' series, depicting Tokyo nightlife in all its diversity between 1975 and 1979. Capturing biker gangs, yakuza, right-wing activists, cabaret dancers, hosts and other creatures of the dark hours, Kurata developed a highly recognisable, raw style that made for a perfect fit with the reality of areas like Ikebukuro in the '70s. This exhibit is your chance to revisit Kurata's work through prints from the 2013 edition of his seminal work.
