Banya no Yu All-You-Can-Fit Bowl

Wed Sep 17 - Fri Oct 17, 2014 Banya no Yu Dining Hall

Time Out says

Sucker for fresh, locally caught fish? Well, then you won't have a problem making this trip out to the Hota fishing port in Kyonan, far out in southern Chiba: the fisherman-run Banya no Yu restaurant and bathhouse will be offering a very special seafood dish in September and October, allowing tireless gourmands to fill up a rice bowl with all the super-fresh sashimi they can fit. You'll be given a bowl with some sushi rice on the bottom, and your job is to then stack the arare-don with delicacies like aji, flounder, buri, squid and much more, all caught that same morning. One bowl costs only ¥839 but the offer ends as soon as the day's catch has been exhausted, so head over early just in case.
