This multipurpose hall is on the basement floor of the Sogetsu Kaikan, home to the Sogetsu-ryu school of ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement), which was founded in 1927. The centre was built as part of the activities marking the 50th anniversary of Sogetsu Ikebana and was opened to encourage creative activities that go beyond the boundaries of conventional genres. The hall is host to a diverse range of events including concerts, movies, plays and seminars. The building itself features a Japanese rock garden designed by world-renowned artist Isamu Noguchi as well as ‘Restaurant Bara’, which serves French-influenced western cuisine and Japanese dishes using ingredients directly sourced from Hakodate in Hokkaido.
