One of Ni-chome’s newest bars (opened in summer 2004), Papi Chulos is a friendly place, welcoming all genders and nationalities. The agreeable, young, English-speaking master, Masa, enjoys experimenting with cocktail recipes; an early success is the lime-cranberry Haychini, named after a regular customer. A small open-air balcony and a loft with fur-draped sofas make this an unusually comfortable bar, while the window-box installation art makes it a quirky one as well.
