Part of the huge Palette Town development that opened in 1999, Mega Web certainly lives up to its name. Its giant Ferris wheel – at 115m (383ft) one of the tallest in the world – is visible for miles, and lit with amazing kaleidoscopic patterns at night. Beneath it is the world’s largest car showroom, the Toyota City Showcase. Here you can sit in the newest models, take a test drive (¥300) on the two-lap track (Japanese or international driver’s licence required) or be ferried around in the company’s self-driving electric town-car prototypes (¥200). Expect a queue for tickets, especially at weekends.
