Tokyo's strangest vending machines: Harajuku, hair care

10 vended things to make you go hmmm...

Harajuku: Hair care

Conditioner, 4,200 yen

The vending machine outside Harajuku's Toni & Guy hair salon doesn't just sell drinks, it also hawks hair products. A central video screen is flanked on either side by a range of salon-friendly items, including hair clips, hairspray and shampoo. Sure, it's not often that you stop to buy a drink only to realise that what you really wanted was a bottle of conditioner, but if you're in the area it's worth a look, if only for the novelty factor. The Harajuku branch of T&G is the only place you'll find this machine, making it a genuine one off.

Location: Walk up past the intersection of Meiji Dori and Omotesando from Harajuku or Meiji-Jingumae Station and take the second right. If you walk down the lane, you’ll see it on the right
