It's been four decades since a homegrown (and heavily redacted) production of hippy musical Hair scandalised the Japanese public, eventually getting shut down by the authorities after members of the cast and crew were busted for drugs. Don't expect any such frissons when the touring Broadway version arrives in Japan for the first time this spring – though this Tony-winning revival is unlikely to disappoint.
