The Omotesando Skating Theatre is back in session this month, running until January 10, 2011. Operating a wax floor, this skating extravaganza is touted as a kind of sport-cum-light show-cum-family-cum-nightclub affair; it’s warm enough to mean Tokyo’s youth get to wear their skimpy fashionable best, while cosy enough to mean that folks of all ages will get something out of the film projections, music and slippery surfaces. We especially advise looking out for the DJ and VJ collaborations that take place after dark during weekends – lovers of the alternative would not want to miss out.
Open December 10, 2010-January 10, 2011
Time 11am-9pm, last entrance 30 minutes before closing. Sundays and national holidays (including January 1-3), 11am-8pm. Special timings: December 22-25, open 11am-10pm; December 31, 11am-7pm.
Admission Free entry, though skate rental is 1,000 yen (adults), 500 yen (children)
Venue 3rd floor, main building, Ometesando Hills
