Over the past few years, he's collaborated with jazz musicians, DJ Krush and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. This weekend, tap dancer extraordinaire Kazunori Kumagai will be returning to something he hasn't done for a while: solo performance. The 34-year-old hoofer's first solo show in nearly two and a half years promises to address the state of the world after March 11, harking back to tap dance's origins as a means of communication in tribal Africa.
