Review

Any suspicions that Koenji was trying to turn into the new Sangenjaya were confirmed when this new theatre complex opened in 2009, coinciding with the debut of a Golden Week street performance festival (yup, they have one of those in Sangenjaya too). Not that Za-Koenji hasn't been a welcome addition to the Koenji arts scene, of course. The building's three, highly adaptable performance spaces have been used for conventional theatre and dance, but also film screenings, symposiums, workshops and concerts.
