It's been 140 years since the first impressionist exhibition, which marked a revolution in the artistic community of the time, was held in Paris. This summer, 84 masterpieces from the French capital's Musée d'Orsay will arrive in Japan for this show, a look at the origins, characteristics and impact of impressionism through paintings by familiar masters like Monet, Renoir, Manet, Degas and Cézanne, as well as through works by realists such as Corot and Courbet, and 'academists' including Cabanel and Bouguereau.
