Review

The Kanze association performs a style of traditional Japanese musical drama called Noh. To fully appreciate the energetic dynamics of Noh, you really have to see it live. The Kanze Nogakudo is a venerable Noh theatre originally built in 1901, when the organisation was founded. It moved to its current location in Shoto, Shibuya in 1972. For regular performances, they sell ‘happy hour’ tickets which enable you to see the last part of three Noh plays. The price is reasonable and even those new to the art form can enjoy Noh this way. The Kanze association has made significant achievements in the transmission and development of this classical Japanese performing art.
