Us3 will forever be synonymous with Hand on the Torch, the 1993 hip-hop smash that raided the vaults of venerable jazz institution Blue Note, earning the label its first platinum hit in the process. Producer overlord Geoff Wilkinson has been the one constant in the group's career, and while he's long since stopped sampling old records, he hasn't abandoned the original jazz + hip-hop template. Well, why would you? He'll be in town this weekend in a DJ team with former Scratch Perverts member First Rate, to spin at a three-pronged event at Xex Nihonbashi. The party also features a fashion show by LA brand Bohemian Society, and Tokyo club-jazz heavyweights Shuya Okino, Toshio Matsuura and Eiji Takehana.
