If Tokyo's Oktoberfest onslaught doesn't take your fancy, head to Yokohama's Yamashita Park for a taste of Belgian beery goodness instead. The capital's edition of Belgian Beer Weekend won't be taking place until September, but our Kangawa rival is sneaking in there early with its own rendition this month. Take your pick of nearly 60 different varieties, running from the workaday (Stella Artois) to the downright exotic (Strubbe Belgian Sour IPA). There'll also be live music from Sarah Ferri (pictured below), a rising star on the Belgian scene whose jazz- and gypsy-tinged songs should go down rather well with local audiences. There's no admission fee, but food and drinks are bought with tickets that must be purchased in bulk; the ¥3,100 'starter set' gets you a glass and twelve tickets.
