St. Patrick's Day Parade 2013

Sun Mar 17, 2013 Harajuku, Omotesando

Time Out says

Now into its 21st year (22nd, if you include the cancelled 2011 edition), Asia's largest St. Patrick's Day parade promises to be extra festive in 2013, thanks to the simple fact that it actually falls on March 17. The main strip of Omotesando is closed to traffic during the afternoon, when a parade of costumed revellers, marching bands and cheerleaders wends its way up the hill and back again – then off to the nearest pub for a few rounds of Guinness. Also keep an eye out for the tin whistle-toting students of Fukushima's Onahama Daiichi elementary school, who are being bussed down for the event after a fundraising drive by Ireland Support Japan.
