In what seems suspiciously like an open challenge to the Asahi Beer Oktoberfest in Hibiya, Yebisu Garden Place is transforming into a beer garden for the weekend. Unlike its pseudo-Germanic rival, Yebisu Beer Festival won't be offering oompah music, Lowenbrau or overpriced sausages and sauerkraut. But it's still got the edge over Oktober: all of the proceeds from sales of draft beer during the event (including a specially brewed Tohoku Hop variety) will be going to quake relief. Get drunk for a good cause? Sold.
